Humke
“I strive to serve my clients. I honestly care and work very hard for them.”
Building close relationships—with clients, colleagues, and in the courtroom—is the part of his practice that Brian Humke finds most inspiring. It’s no surprise that clients view Brian as honest, approachable, and respectful.
Family law, tort, and contract litigation matters occupy most of Brian’s practice. He also handles criminal defense cases.
With his focus on people and relationships, Brian is a trained and experienced mediator for civil litigation and family law matters.
Brian serves as general counsel for the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa High School Music Association. Representing these organizations, Brian is a frequent speaker at national and legal conferences.
When Nyemaster opened its Ames office 20 years ago, Brian helped integrate the firm’s culture and establish a strong client base. “Diverse clients translate into a diverse practice, which is rewarding because I’m not doing the same thing every day,” he says.
A fresh perspective on each case and the applicable laws is imperative to Brian’s practice. “It’s important to approach every case individually,” he says. “Every client’s needs are different.” Brian helps his clients define clear goals and the best methods to achieve those goals.
Outside of the office, Brian enjoys spending time with his family and attending sporting events. He served 18 years on the Ankeny Community School District board and has been active in the Ankeny Community School District Foundation.
