Dustin J. Miller

Dustin Miller is a member of the Governmental Affairs Department at Nyemaster Goode. Dustin’s practice is primarily focused on representing clients as a lobbyist at the Iowa Legislature and with agencies of the State of Iowa.   Dustin’s work involves a wide range of public policy issues including water quality and environmental issues, economic development, taxation, public information, and utilities.  In addition to his work as legislative counsel, he also practices law in the areas of environmental and water quality, municipal law, and public finance.  Dustin works with various agricultural, environmental, industrial, and municipal groups in the development of environmental markets.

Prior to joining the firm, Dustin most recently served as the General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs for the Iowa League of Cities. He has also worked in multiple positions across federal, state, tribal, and international governments. This included Assistant Attorney General of the Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa, a Program Specialist in the Office of the Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture, Director of Development & Marketing for a nonprofit organization Dustin formed just after finishing law school that served the Crow Creek Sioux Indian Reservation, and a Parliamentary Assistant in the House of Commons in London.

Dustin received his B.A. degree from the University of Iowa in 2002 and his J.D. from Drake University in 2008. While at Drake, he was the recipient of a public service scholarship, and Dustin earned a Food and Agricultural Law Certificate, which denotes satisfaction of a concentrated study regimen.
