Katie Graham

Katie Graham is a member of the firm's Litigation and Labor and Employment Departments. Katie’s experience includes handling the defense of employment matters involving allegations of age, gender, disability, race, and religious discrimination, sexual harassment, common law retaliatory discharge, and violations of the FMLA and FLSA.

Having worked exclusively in the restaurant and hospitality industry prior to joining Nyemaster, Katie is able to provide tailored advice to clients in retail, restaurant, and hospitality industries. Katie has experience representing hotel management companies, corporate and franchised restaurant chains, as well as local restaurants in claims involving premises liability, negligent security claims, and employment matters.

Katie graduated from Drake University Law School with high honors after receiving her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Iowa.

Obtained motion to dismiss in favor of church based on Establishment and Free Exercise clauses of Federal and Iowa Constitutions.

Obtained summary judgment on behalf of school in a case involving allegations of age discrimination and retaliation.

Represented client in appeal to Iowa Supreme Court in which it was determined punitive damages were not available under the Iowa Civil Rights Act.

Represented local municipality in over fifty bench trials prosecuting simple misdemeanor and traffic charges.
