On October 5, 2011, the National Labor Relations Board announced that it will extend the deadline requiring employers to post an official Notice of Employee Rights. The new implementation deadline will be January 31, 2012. This additional two-month time period is to allow for further education and outreach to employers. According to the NLRB, "The decision to extend the rollout period followed queries from businesses and trade organizations indicating uncertainty about which businesses fall under the Board's jurisdiction, and was made in the interest of ensuring broad voluntary compliance." There will be no changes to the Notice during this time period, so employers who already have the required Notices can still use them, but need not post them until January 31.
