Iowa Unclaimed Property Amnesty Program

About Us

The Nyemaster Tax Law Blog is dedicated to current tax law and employee benefit/ERISA issues impacting individuals and businesses, at both the Iowa and federal levels. We hope you find this resource informative and appreciate your feedback.

The Iowa Treasurer’s Office is offering an amnesty program under which holders of unclaimed property (e.g., un-cashed checks to employees, vendors, etc.) can remit the money or other property to the State of Iowa in return for waiver of penalties and interest. Click here to find additional information regarding this program.

The original due date for participating in the amnesty program was Friday, November 1. However, the Treasurer’s Office has indicated that an extension of up to 60 days may be available. Please contact Dwayne Vande Krol for assistance related to requesting an extension or participating in the Iowa unclaimed property amnesty program.
