Labor Department announces new regulations

The U.S. Dept. of Labor released final regulations Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, effective for plan years beginning on/after November 1, 2011 (or January 1, 2012 for calendar year plans).  The regulations deal with required uniform fee, expense and investment disclosures to participants who have the ability to direct their investments among different choices. This affects virtually all 401(k) plans and many 403(b) plans.  

These regulations will be be published in the Federal Register on October 20.
