Nyemaster Goode Celebrates Black History Month

March 3, 2009

Nyemaster Goode celebrated February as Black History Month in its twelfth annual observation. Linda Kaiser, a member of the firm's staff, has organized this celebration annually since 1998. During the month of February, the firm participates in a series of cultural events culminating in a firm-wide "Soul Food Luncheon," which includes potluck with firm personnel contributing a variety of home-cooked dishes.

Black History Month began as Negro History Week by Carter Woodson, a historian born in 1875. His purpose was to educate the public of the many contributions that black Americans bring to the world. His work was instrumental in making Black History Month the celebration that it is today.
