Nyemaster Goode, P.C. is pleased to announce the formation of its Public Finance Practice Group. Nyemaster Goode’s public finance lawyers have helped the firm establish one of the largest and broadest commercial and financial transaction practices in Iowa. Municipality, state agency, special district, development authority, investment bank, bond trustee, bank and other financial institution, nonprofit borrower and insurance company clients have relied on our attorneys over the years to provide an array of public finance and municipal law services.
The firm’s new Public Finance Practice Group will be in a position to coordinate the knowledge and experience of the lawyers in the Public Finance Practice Group with lawyers in the firm's Banking and Secured Transactions, Business Planning and Taxation, Corporate Finance, Venture Capital and Securities and Commercial Real Estate Finance Practice Groups to better serve, and respond to the legal issues unique to, municipal and conduit borrowers, underwriters, bond trustees, credit enhancement providers and banks, savings banks, credit unions, insurance companies and other institutional purchasers of tax-exempt obligations.
Greg Wilcox, the firm’s Chairman, said “Our Public Finance Practice Group will be able to coordinate and draw on the firm's established practice areas such as project finance, taxation, corporate finance and securities, commercial finance and employment law to better serve the unique needs of our municipal clients and other public finance transaction participants.”
John Blyth, head of the firm’s Public Finance Practice Group, said “Our public finance lawyers will, of course, provide traditional bond counsel services in connection with the issuance of governmental bonds and qualified private activity bonds. However, our public finance lawyers have experience not only in tax-exempt and taxable public finance transactions but are also experienced commercial finance and project finance lawyers. This diverse background should position them to effectively coordinate with lawyers in the firm with experience in other areas to offer a wide variety of legal services to our municipal clients and other entities involved in public finance transactions.”
