Nyemaster Supports Courthouse Referendum

October 28, 2013

On November 5, 2013, Polk County residents will vote on a bond proposal, Public Measure “A” – the Polk County Public Safety Judicial System Bond. The proposal calls for the issuance of bonds in an amount not exceeding $81 million, to be borrowed in phases, for the purpose of paying costs associated with improving public safety in, remodeling, reconstructing, historically rehabilitating, furnishing, and equipping the buildings used by the Polk County Judicial System. These buildings include the Historic Courthouse, the Criminal Court Annex (former jail), and the Polk County Justice Center Annex (former J.C. Penney/Wellmark building). With such funding, Polk County will be able to use existing owned space for justice system operations and will reduce dependence on leased space. Nyemaster is a strong supporter of the referendum and has been a financial contributor to the PAC established for the effort. Bill Boyd, a member of the firm’s Business, Finance, and Real Estate Department, serves as the president of the Polk County Bar Association and has been involved in the effort seeking the passage of the referendum. For more information on the referendum, see www.safepolk.com.
