Nyemaster Goode’s public finance presence has helped the firm establish one of the largest and broadest commercial and financial transaction practices in Iowa. The firm and our individual public finance attorneys are listed in the Bond Buyer's Municipal Marketplace “Red Book.” Municipalities, state agencies, special districts, development authorities, investment banks, bond trustees, banks and other financial institutions, and nonprofit organizations have relied on our attorneys over the years to provide an array of public finance and municipal law services. These representations have enabled our public finance attorneys to develop a depth of experience in a broad range of tax-exempt and taxable finance transactions involving revenue obligations, real estate improvement and other special purpose districts, 501(c)(3) bonds, lease financing, public and private education, anticipatory warrants, industrial development revenue bonds and healthcare facilities. We can serve in various roles including bond counsel, issuer counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter/private placement agent counsel, credit enhancement issuer counsel and bond trustee counsel.
We take a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, drawing on the experience of attorneys in the firm’s various practice areas including banking and secured transactions; business planning and taxation; real estate taxation; corporate finance, venture capital, and securities; and commercial real estate finance as necessary to work through complex and novel transactions. Our public finance attorneys also work closely with attorneys in our Government Affairs Department to provide lobbying and other legislative and state governmental relations services to our municipal clients, including drafting administrative rules and proposed legislation and working with staff at state agencies.
